The Basics of an Abandoned Checkout Email Series

What is an Abandoned Checkout Series?

This email automation is a sequence of emails that are sent to a recipient when they have started the checkout process for a product on your website, but fail to complete the purchase.

Starting Condition:

The trigger condition for this automation is when the customer enters their email during the shipping portion of the checkout process, but then they do not complete the purchase within a period of time.

Customer Profile:

These customers have spent time on your website, added a product to their cart, and even made it through the shipping portion of their checkout, so they are engaged and interested in your product. They are the perfect candidate for a gentle nudge to complete their purchase.

The Goal:

The goal of this automation is to get the customer to return to their cart and complete their purchase.

Why It’s So Great:
  • This automation targets customers who already have high buying intent and engagement with your brand, making it very likely to convince customers to purchase.

  • It can be triggered by customers who have not previously signed-up for your list through your popup, and it collects the customer’s email address and adds it to your list.

  • It strengthens your customer relationships and improves the customer experience.

  • You can showcase the product(s) that the customer abandoned in their cart and use social proof and other incentives to convince them to complete the purchase.
